Asif Zardari vs Mahmood Achakzai: President of Pakistan Election 2024

The nomination papers of Asif Zardari and Mahmood Achakzai from the opposition were submitted for the election of the President of the country. On behalf of the People’s Party, party leader Farooq H. Naik submitted the papers of former President Asif Zardari to the presiding officer in the Islamabad High Court.

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Amir Farooq received the nomination papers of Asif Zardari. Asif Zardari will be the presidential candidate on behalf of Pakistan People’s Party while Bilawal Bhutto is the recommender of his father Asif Zardari and Farooq H. Naik is the endorser.

On the other hand, the Sunni Alliance Council submitted the nomination papers of Mehmood Khan Achakzai for the presidential election, which was submitted by PTI leader Latif Khosa in the Islamabad High Court.

5 candidates from Islamabad have submitted their nomination papers for the presidential election, in which apart from Asif Zardari and Mahmood Achakzai, independent candidates Advocate Asghar Ali Mubarak, Waheed Kamal and Shahri Abdul Quddus have also submitted their nomination papers for the President of Pakistan.

9th March 2024 Presidential Election Result:

According to the Form 7 issued by the Returning Officer, a total of 1,044 votes were cast in the presidential election, out of which 9 votes were rejected, Asif Ali Zardari got 411 votes while Mehmood Khan Achakzai got 181 votes.

According to Form 7, Asif Ali Zardari got 255 votes from Parliament, 58 from Sindh Assembly, 8 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, 43 from Punjab Assembly and 47 from Balochistan Assembly.

Mehmood Khan Achakzai got 119 votes from Parliament, 3 from Sindh Assembly, 18 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and 18 from Punjab Assembly while he did not get any votes from Balochistan Assembly.
