Mir Sarfaraz Bugti Became Chief Minister of Balochistan

Mir Sarfaraz Bugti of Pakistan People’s Party: Elected Current Chief Minister of Balochistan.

Polling for the election of the new Chief Minister was held in the meeting presided over by Speaker Balochistan Assembly Abdul Khaliq Achakzai. Speaker Balochistan Assembly while announcing the results after polling said that Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has been elected Chief Minister by getting 41 votes.

It should be noted that only Sarfraz Bugti had submitted the papers for the Chief Ministership of Balochistan, Sarfaraz Bugti also had the support of Muslim League-N and Balochistan Awami Party.

In the 51 member house of the Balochistan Assembly, the number of members of the People’s Party is 11, while the Muslim League-N is second with 10 seats and the Balochistan Awami Party is third with 5 seats and 6 independent candidates were also declared successful in the election held on February 8

In the general elections held in the year 2013, Sarfaraz Bugti contested for the provincial assembly as an independent candidate and later joined the Pakistan Muslim League (N), a few months later he was made the provincial interior minister.

In the 2018 general elections, Sarfraz Bugti could not get electoral success, but by winning the Senate seat, he became a strong voice in the upper house of the Parliament and then in 2021, he was elected as a senator for the second time.

In 2023, he was offered the post of caretaker federal interior minister, in this position he tried to present a positive image of Pakistan at the international level.

Sarfaraz Bugti resigned from his position after the announcement of the date of the 2024 elections and announced to contest as a member of the Balochistan Assembly on the ticket of the Pakistan People’s Party in the upcoming elections and also won the election.
